LIVING ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEIL!

Heb 10:19-25 KJV Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; 21 And having an high priest over the house of God; 22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.  23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:  25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

“For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2Co 3:11-18

The Barrier Between God And Man Was The Result Of Man’s Rebellion!
In the beginning there was no barrier between God and man. God and man had communion, conversation and companionship continuously. In the beginning it was man who erected the barrier through sin.
And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. Genesis 3:7-10 KJV
Instead of wanting to meet with God, man became afraid of God.
Instead of running to bask in God’s presence man ran to hide from God.
Instead of coming into God’s presence unashamed man began covering up.
It has been thus since then…man’s pitiful attempts to cover up and put on a front; man’s constant attempts to ignore God, run from God, blame God and antagonize God; man’s never ending efforts to eradicate every presence and indication of God, man’s denial of God! All this was done in his desperate need to justify himself and make himself unaccountable. Man’s creed has become the pursuit of happiness and fails to realize that real happiness is found only by the pursuit of God instead!

God Desire To Bring Man Close Again Resulted In His Plans To Bypass The Barrier!
The story of the Bible is an account of God’s journey to seek out man and reestablish to bond that had been broken by sin. Man like the prodigal son has taken his far journey from the Father. Like the Good Shepherd God has set out into the wild night to seek for His lost sheep and does it with the diligence of the woman searching for her lost coin!
God does this in order to bring man again into the relationship that existed prior to the fall.
Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. Isaiah 59:1-2 KJV
He wants to be with us face to face! He wants to talk to us face to face! He wants to have fellowship with us face to face! He wants us to worship Him face to face!
God does not like the separation but sinful man simply cannot enter unprotected into the awesome presence of God’s holiness. The instructions to build a tabernacle, and later a temple were illustrative of God’s desire to dwell among men, and to fellowship with him. However even so, a veil had to be erected with strict warnings to protect man from intruding into danger.

God is an "in your face God" but He has to meet with us behind a veil because of the frailty of our frame! He remembers that we are dust.
The veil is a barrier to the fullness of God. In order to commune with God the veil became necessary not because of God but because of man whose frail and sinful being cannot stand unprotected in God's Holy Presence.  God does not like to dwell behind a veil but He had a plan even before man! But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. Galatians 4:4-5 KJV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. John 1:1-5 KJV
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.  John 1:14 KJV
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.  1 Timothy 3:16 KJV

Jesus Christ Is The Triumphant Culmination Of God’s Efforts To Break The Barrier!
The body of Jesus was a covering for the glory of God! It is the most spectacular of God's mysteries...for Him to be manifested in the flesh. God in a human body was an essential manifestation for both God and man!

  • It was essential if He was to live among mankind and rub shoulders with them on a daily basis.
  • It was essential if He was to communicate to us in a language that we could understand.
  • It was essential if He was to have people comfortable in His Presence and not feel condemned.
  • It was essential if He was to declare what God is like by His Word, Way and Work.
  • It was essential if He was to be identified with us and become one with our frailties.
  • It was essential if He was to be our substitute and take our place of judgment and punishment.
  • It was essential if He was to be tempted like as we are to be our Perfect Intercessor!

And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom. Mark 15:37-38 KJV
Can you picture in your mind's eye the Father walking into the temple, taking hold of the veil after Jesus' death, and ripping it completely from top to bottom? Can you see the wide smile even in that moment of pain anguish and sorrow as He physically demonstrates what His Son just accomplished on the Cross? Full unrestricted access through the Blood right into the very throne room of God and completed access to the mercy seat! We now have throne room rights through the Blood of Jesus Christ!

We Now Have Privileged Access To The Very Throne Room Of The Holy Almighty God!
But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. Eph 2:13 KJV

  • Before the veil is the ordinary. Beyond the veil is the extraordinary.
  • Before the veil is the fleshly. Beyond the veil is the spiritual.
  • Before the veil is the ritual. Beyond the veil is the reality.
  • Before the veil is the natural. Beyond the veil is the supernatural.
  • Before the veil is the earthly. Beyond the veil is the heavenly.
  • Before the veil we see things barely. Beyond the veil we see things clearly.
  • Before the veil we move in sense knowledge. Beyond the veil we move in revelation knowledge.

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.  Hebrews 4:16 KJV

In spite of this privilege believers continue to allow veils real or imagined to block their access to the throne room! Unbelief continues to be the biggest of these barriers! Many times we are contented to loiter around in the outer court where the brazen altar and the brazen laver are found. We find ourselves camping in the realm of the natural light and are comfortable with the natural things. We have thus severely limited ourselves to living on the natural plane and reside in the place where the sacrifice has been made for our sins but are reluctant to move past the veil.

God would like to have every veil that man has erected removed so there can be full two way access between God and His children! Let's examine and see the veils and barriers we have been constantly either consciously or unconsciously erecting between us and our Father!
God wants us to see beyond the veil of the physical. He wants us to see the spiritual. He wants us to see with the eyes of the spirit. Paul prayed for the Ephesians that the eyes of their understanding may be enlightened. He prayed that they may be able to comprehend.
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. Colossians 3:1-3 KJV
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  Psalms 91:1 KJV
Are we dwelling or just passing through? Is it a momentary contact or a permanent habitation?

LOVE IS AN ACTION WORD!

1 Corinthians 13
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child , I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

1 Cor. 4-7
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self - seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (NIV)

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
 (Message Bible)

SO WHAT IS THIS THING CALLED LOVE?

Five Greek words are translated Love:
1. Epithumia describes a love based on a strong desire and many times associated with lust or coveting.
2. Eros which describes erotic love. It refers to sexual love.
3. Storge which refers to family love, the kind of love between a parent and child, or in general between family members.
4. Philia refers to brotherly friendship and affection. It is the love referring to deep friendship and partnership; and the highest love of which man is capable of apart from God.
5. Agape describes a love that loves without ever changing.  It is gives without making demands or expecting re-payment. It is love so great that it can be given to the unlovable or unappealing.  It is love that loves even when it is rejected.  Agape love gives, and loves because it wants to; it does not demand or expect repayment from the love given. It is the ability to love the unlovable and is not controlled by emotions or feelings but will. It is sacrificial, self denying, deliberate. It does not require response or reaction to exist but remains steadfast against all obstacles.

4 Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.
5 It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].
6 It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.
7 Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. (Amplified)

suffereth long...have (long) patience, be patient, patiently endure.
is kind...to show oneself useful, i.e. act benevolently:
envieth not... to have warmth of feeling ... against
vaunteth not itself...to boast
is not puffed up...in the primary sense of blowing; to inflate, i. e. (figuratively) make proud (haughty) Doth not behave itself unseemly...to be (i.e. act) unbecoming
seeketh not her own...selfish desires and self worship
is not easily provoked...not easily exasperated or angry
thinketh no evil...bears no malice or record of wrongs
Rejoiceth not in iniquity...not happy about injustice or wrong doing, no complacency.

Love is extremely patient especially with the slow and awkward. It does not make a mockery of a person's handicaps and shortcomings, but rather seeks to help them in their efforts to overcome. It always is ready to act benevolently towards others, and tries to be useful rather than critical.
There is no envy or jealousy in the witnessing of a brother's promotion but rather a rejoicing and an effort to help the brother (or sister) towards success if it is possible.
Love is not given to boasting. A person with an inferiority complex will always be trying to put down another in an effort to seem good. Their every conversation will be full of one topic only, themselves. There will be a constant boasting albeit in subtle ways of their achievements and accomplishments. God never gets the glory. It is always what they did to earn what they have.
Love does not do this but rather keeps a modest and humble attitude about their own accomplishments submerging it to the common good.
Love is neither rude nor vexatious to the spirit. It does not behave in unseemly ways so as to cause others to be embarrassed at their attitude.
There is no malice or selfish desire in love. It remains unprovoked in stressful situations and does not burst out in exasperation and anger because it does not get its way.

It does not rejoice in the downfall of a brother and is not happy about injustice or wrong doing. There is no self complacency at someone else's misfortune...
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.  1 Corinthians 13:7 KJV

SO WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?

1. IT’S THE DEFINING CHARACTERISTIC OF A DISCIPLE OF CHRIST:  By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.  John 13:35 KJV

2. IT’S THE DEMANDED COURSE OF A HUSBAND FOR HIS WIFE:  Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;  Ephesians 5:25 KJV

3. IT’S THE DIVINE COMMAND OF CHRIST TO HIS DISCIPLES: This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. John 15:12-14 KJV

Jesus is a supreme example of love in action. Remember...God is Love...so what is God like?
Remember also that we are expected to confirm to His image. So what should we be like?

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 1 John 4:7-12 KJV
