MEMORIAL DAY!

For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it,and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. 1Co 11:23-26 
"And Moses said unto the people, ’Remember this day, in which ye came out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten." Exodus 13:3

What does Memorial Day mean to you?
Extra time off from work? 3-day weekend? Eating, grilling barbque? Or perhaps what it really was meant to be…a time of remembrance!
Memorial Day, formerly called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. It was first enacted to honor Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the civil war. After World War 1 it was extended honor Americans soldiers who died in all wars.
After the Civil War, Memorial Day was instituted as an act of remembrance and reconciliation. Remember that many fought against their own relations in the Civil War and it was a time of healing and reconciliation. After World War I, Memorial Day became a day of memory and reflection.
We can list three things to bear in mind here:
  1. Remembrance
  2. Reconciliation
  3. Reflection
Over the years traditional observance of Memorial Day has diminished, with most people no longer remembering the meaning and traditions of the day.
However today as we remember and honor those who fought and died on behalf of freedom we also need to ensure that we learn and never forget that the price of freedom is the shedding of blood! Men and women shed their blood and died. Freedom costs and we should never forget it, should never take it lightly, and should never let its value be diminished. Every American ought to recognize this day in honor of those who spilled their blood to make America what she is today--free, strong, and a nation worth fighting for.
Because men have died for this country, we have the right to preach God’s word freely. We have the right to live at peace in our own homes. We have the right to pursue peace, prosperity and happiness. 

Memorial Day is a time when we remember a sobering fact: 
 The Preamble to the "Declaration of Independence" - the unanimous Declaration of the Thirteen United States of America begins like this:
When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. 

The Preamble to the Constitution of the United States of America, says,
 We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. 

Glenn Beck of the Fox News Show by the same name outlined nine (9) principles that we should believe in today:
(1)   America is a good place - not perfect - but good;
(2)   Believe in God and make Him the center of our lives;
(3)   Try to be a better, more honest person than we were yesterday;
(4)   The family is sacred - the husband and wife are the ultimate authority;
(5)   If we break the law, we must pay the penalty - Justice is blind and no one is above it;
(6)   We have a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness - and, not a guarantee of equal results;
(7)   We must work hard for what we have - and, we will share it with whomever we want to - government cannot force us to be charitable;
(8)   It is not un-American to disagree or to share our opinions; and,
(9)   The government works for us - we do not answer to them - they answer to us!

Just as Americans need to remember and reflect on the significance of Memorial Day even so all Christians who name the name of Christ need to remember that Jesus suffered and died on our behalf so that we can enjoy freedom from Sin, Satan, Death and Hell. In examining the three things above that we're exhorted to bear in mind we apply them to our Messiah and how they relate to us.
  1. REMEMBRANCE.
We are adjured to remember the sacrifice Christ made on our behalf. And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 1Co 11:24-25
The Israelites were also commanded by Moses to remember the Passover and the day when they came out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage by the hand of God. "And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten." Exodus 13:3
The Messiah is our Passover having shed His blood as redemption’s price. “Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us:” 1Co 5:7
  1. RECONCILIATION.
We also bear in mind that through Christ we have been reconciled to God and now walk in His freedom
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” 2Co 5:19 
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. Heb 2:14-18
  1. REFLECTION
We need to think upon, consider and meditate on the finished work of Christ and what it means to us today. We need to let this reflection result in our motivation. Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. Heb 3:1-2
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.” Heb 12:1-4

Reflection also implies beholding an image in a mirror and in like manner we should behold Jesus continuously in his Word allowing the Spirit to change us into that same image “For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2Co 3:11-18  
“But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” Jas 1:25

We are therefore reminded to:
Gal 5:1  Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Gal 5:13-26  For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.  14  For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  15  But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.  16  This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.  17  For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.  18  But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.  19  Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,  20  Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,  21  Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.  22  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,  23  Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.  24  And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.  25  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.  26  Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
Rom 8:14-21  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.  15  For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.  16  The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:  17  And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.  18  For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.  19  For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.  20  For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,  21  Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

WHAT MEANETH THIS?

TEXT: ACTS 2:12 "WHAT MEANETH THIS?" 
The "this' whose meaning is being questioned here refers to the noise of the 120 assorted people unrestrainedly speaking in other languages, in voices so loud that it was noised abroad
[note: speaking in tongues means actually opening your lips and speaking. In all my experiencing of speaking it is impossible to SPEAK IN your mind for others to hear! (though you may SPEAK your mind!) You can only think there! You speak when you actually open your mouth to allow His praise to flow forth! So get noisy for God!] The 120 could have done the most intense thinking and produced works of art and greatness in their minds, but it was not until they opened their lips and let the words flow that they drew the attention which subsequently resulted in the addition of about 3000 souls to the kingdom.

It was Pentecost (Shavuot), and Jerusalem was crowded with Jewish believers returned from the various parts of the world where they had made their home. They had returned in obedience to the Word of Yahweh to celebrate Yaweh's Feast. It was one of the 3 times in the year that the Jews were required to be present in Jerusalem

Shavuot is the time of the first fruits being harvested and brought to the temple. It is also the feast celebrating the giving of the Torah by Yahweh to Israel from Mount Sinai. The faithful have returned to Mt Zion and against this backdrop of celebration and commemoration, at 9.00 a.m. the Holy Ghost made a dramatic entrance in a rush of wind, tongues of fire and tongues ON fire for Yashua. The noise of praise filled the city drawing men to investigate and query, "What meaneth this?"
Shavuot is connected to the season of the grain harvest in Israel. In ancient times, the grain harvest lasted seven weeks. It began with the harvesting of the barley during Passover and ended with the harvesting of the wheat at Shavuot. Shavuot was therefore the concluding festival of the grain harvest. An offering of two loaves of bread from the wheat harvest was made on Shavuot.
Shavuot (or Pentecost) is also called the Feast of Weeks, the Feast of Harvest, or the Feast of the First Fruits. Passover was the barley harvest and Shavuot was the wheat harvest.

Exo 34:22  And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end.
Rth 1:22  So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter in law, with her, which returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Bethlehem in the beginning of barley harvest.
Rth 2:23  So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.

So...What does this mean?

THIS MEANS THAT...

A.        SCRIPTURE IS BEING FULFILLED

(Peter quoted Joel 2:28-32as a direct fulfillment of what was actually taking place in their presence )

Joe 2:28-32  And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:  (29)  And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.  (30)  And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.  (31)  The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.  (32)  And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

B.        IT IS THE LAST DAYS  (ACTS 2:17)

Act 2:17-21  And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:  (18)  And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:  (19)  And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:  (20)  The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:  (21)  And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

C.        JESUS IS GLORIFIED AND EXALTED  (JN 7:39; ACTS 2:33)

It means that our LORD has ascended to heaven and has been exalted and glorified!
John 16:7-15  Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.  (8)  And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:  (9)  Of sin, because they believe not on me;  (10)  Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;  (11)  Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.  (12)  I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.  (13)  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.  (14)  He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.  (15)  All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
John 7:37-39  In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.  (38)  He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.  (39)  (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
  Act 2:32-33  This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.  (33)  Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

D.        THE HOLY GHOST - THE COMFORTER IS HERE.

As noted in the previous point, the Holy Ghost has arrived to stay with the Church of the Messiah and with as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Act 1:4-5  And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.  (5)  For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Act 2:1-4  And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.  (2)  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.  (3)  And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.  (4)  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

 And as even Jesus has promised, so the Holy Ghost has come leading us to the final point...)

E.        WE HAVE RECEIVED POWER TO BE WITNESSES  (LK 24:49; ACTS 1:8)

Luk 24:46-49  And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:  (47)  And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.  (48)  And ye are witnesses of these things.  (49)  And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
  
  Act 1:8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

It has been noted that Shavuot (or Pentecost) is called the time of the giving of the Torah, rather than the time of the receiving of the Torah. It has been pointed out that we are constantly in the process of receiving the Torah, that we receive it every day, but it was first given at this time. Thus it is the giving, not the receiving, that makes this feast significant.
In similar manner it should be pointed out that on the day of Pentecost the Holy Ghost was given for the first time and we are constantly in the process of receiving Him.

Therefore I ask this question, "Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed?" The Command is "...be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;" Eph 5:18 . The word translated "filled" denotes to be filled to the full, to have a constant liberal supply, to be filled to the top, to the brim, to make complete. We should therefore be constantly filled with the Holy Spirit and be submissive to Him thereby ensuring that our thoughts, words, and actions bring glory to Him!

SO...WHAT MEANETH THIS...TO YOU?
How do you respond to the fact that the Holy Ghost is here already given only for you to receive now? It is the command of the Messiah, It is the commitment required, It is a commission imparted.
How do we respond to the question what meaneth this? Today of you will hear His voice harden not your hearts toward Him or His Word but yield your members wholly to Him to glorify God in your mortal bodies which belong to Him. Amen

THIS SAME JESUS...IS COMING AGAIN!

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Act 1:9-11

This same Jesus:
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. Mat 24:4-5 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Mat 24:23-24 

It will be the SAME Jesus who, being born of Mary, baptized by John the Baptist, tempted by the devil after a forty day fast, turned water to wine at Cana, raised Lazarus from the dead ,betrayed and sold by Judas, forsaken by his disciples, denied by Peter, condemned innocently by the Sanhedrin, crucified horribly by Pilate, buried by His disciples, but arose triumphant from the dead by the power of the Holy Ghost...this SAME Jesus is coming again!

Fact: JESUS is returning to earth...literally!
The announcement was that Jesus shall so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven

How did Jesus go to heaven?
  • From the mount of Olives
  • He was taken up
  • His ascension was witnessed
  • A cloud received Him out of sight
He will return in like manner!
  • He will return to the mount of Olives 
And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. Zec 14:4
  • He will descend
  • He will be seen when He returns
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. Rev 1:7
  •   He will appear with the clouds
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Mat 24:30

NOTE:
  • The angels also do not know the time of the second coming!
  • This is NOT referring to the Rapture of the believers
  • This is not where the believers will be caught up to meet Him in the air
  • This refers to when He returns for a showdown against the nations gathered against Israel!
In the meantime what should the believer in Christ be doing?
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee. Tit 2:11-15

There are many speculations about the coming of the Lord and the day of His coming. In light of all these different soundings and announcements what is a Christian to do? We are to be expectant, ready and prepared. We should be occupied, watchful, vigilant...
But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Mat 24:37-51
 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. 1Jn 2:28

Lessons from Mary the mother of the Lord

And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. Act 1:13,14
  
It is to be noted that Mary the mother of Jesus was right there with the 120 who were in one accord with prayer and supplication. She was no doubt respected and revered as the mother of the Lord but not to the extent of being worshiped. Mary also awaited the coming of the Holy Ghost. If we need to give labels Mary was a Pentecostal member of the first church. This church  was a born again, Spirit filled tongues speaking - a Pentecostal Church! And they were not ashamed to noise it abroad! Mary will forever stand out as unique..a rare woman among women...who was highly favored and blessed...and maybe we can learn from her as a woman and mother as we examine the brief inclusions of her in the Scriptures.

And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women
And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. Luk
  
As the events unfold we take note of the following:
Mary's Caution, Curiosity, Consecration, Commitment and Courage.
Her CAUTION in her being troubled by the presence of a stranger with a seemingly flattering tongue. We need to understand that Gabriel was probably very excited about the event he was heralding of this strange adventure of His Lord! It was not just another "ho hum day" in heaven!
Her CURIOSITY at the content of the message resulting in the inevitable question, "How can this be..."
Her CONSECRATION when she said, "Behold the handmaid of the Lord...!"
Her COMMITMENT in saying, "be it unto me according to thy word!"
Her COURAGE in her submission to the will of God in spite of the repercussions that may result when Joseph finds out that she is with child especially since in that time she faced death by stoning with Joseph casting the first stone!

1.We can meditate on the Word of God

There was a lot going on and a lot being said about this unique Son of Mary. She is aware of the circumstances surrounding His birth and the extraordinary nature of the Holy Thing that was born of her! Her realization caused her to store up and treasure every reference to Him and to ponder them in her heart. How necessary for us to do the same. 
 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them. And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart
   
2. We can learn to look to Him in our time of need
And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. 
Mary knew of her Son's origin and mission. She was aware that He had special abilities and looked to Him for help when the wedding was on the verge of social disaster. It is a reminder that we should remember to take it to the Lord in prayer

3. We can learn to be confidently obedient to Him!
And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it
Mary did not know how her son would resolve the situation. All she knew was that He would come through. her confidence in Him and His ability allowed her to relax and left everything in His hands.
Remember: 
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Php
  
4. We can recognize our need to be filled with the Holy Ghost
These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
Mary was right there among the 120 awaiting the promise of the Father...the Baptism of the Holy Ghost!

Remember the Resurrection!

Heb 2:14-15  Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;  (15)  And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
  1. Satan had the power of death and hell. He held sway over mankind. ( the word 'hell'  as used in this note refers to hades-the place of the dead, the grave, NOT gehenna or the lake of fire!)
  2. Yashua came to destroy the works of the devil. Yashua came to destroy death for the believer also! 1John 3:8  He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
  3. He had to die to conquer death!
  4. If He could not rise again then He was defeated and all hope was lost! 1Cor 15:17-19  And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.  (18)  Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.  (19)  If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. 
  5. BUT HE ROSE AGAIN!!!  1Cor 15:20  But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
Yashua had to take authority over death and hell before He could have resurrected! He HAD to take the keys!
The devil had the keys of death and the grave.
The devil had control.
Yashua died and ENTERED that territory..the realm of the dead where the devil had power and control!
The devil had the keys and you can bet that he would have dearly loved to keep Yashua there!
The devil had the ultimate prize within his realm of authority but could not keep HIM there!
Not him not his officers, not his henchmen, not his demons, not his devils, not all hell could hold Yashua down!
They thought they had a dead one but found Him to be very much alive!
Not only was He a live one...He was the personification of RESURRECTION! HE WAS the RESURRECTION!
The devil tried to exercise control but FAILED!
Yashua conquered and because He conquered He AROSE!
He AROSE having broken death's back!
He AROSE with the keys of death and hell in His grasp, triumphant over death and the devil!
He AROSE with eternal life...RESURRECTION LIFE  tried, tested and triumphant!
RESURRECTION LIFE...the life that conquered death!
He stands ready to dispense that life...RESURRECTION LIFE!!!...to any one who believes in Him! John 11:25  Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
That life...RESURRECTION LIFE! That life can be ours. Yashua wants us to have that life, to live that life, and allow that life to swallow up death in us! Death is swallowed up in victory!  1Cor 15:54-57  So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.  (55)  O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?  (56)  The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.  (57)  But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
That life...RESURRECTION LIFE...is the abundant life He offers...it's why He came! John 10:10  ... I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

REMEMBER THE RESURRECTION
When the shout comes
When the archangel's voice is heard
When the trumpet sounds
an irresistible tug will be felt by every believer..living or dead!
Every atom of our mortal bodies will be changed.
Corruptible shall put on incorruption!
Mortal shall put on immortality
The scattered dead in Christ will reassemble in less time than it takes to blink your eye!
We shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye!
Resurrection will swallow up death!
That resurrection life is NOW in us, the believers!
Tested, Tried, Proven, Victorious, All Conquering!
Do NOT let your trial discourage you!
Do not let criticism get you down!
Do not let the world fill  you with hardness and unbelief!

Rom 8:35  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Rom 8:37-39  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.  (38)  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,  (39)  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
RESURRECTION LIFE IS OURS! LET US LIVE IT!
